Its standardized. Stationary. Personal. And rewarding.

— She just keeps going.

I really feel like taking a standardized test.

Something like the SATs.

Will I still be dumb and giddy in another 3 months?

Probably not.

But tonight, after a very long awaited date night, i am very thankful that jon is in my life. sometimes it is so amazing to have a friend that speaks to you with such care, sincerity, and truth. he did this all over a spicy tofu soup that made me choke and cry so he took it and gave me his bibimbap.

speaking of which, did everyone else notice my horribly embarrassing coughing fit that happened today at our vision retreat? when 30 student leaders were like praying over staff with such love and passion and i was totally choking on my own lungs? did anyone else see that? it was very ugly.

and finally: past, present, and future walk into a bar. it was tense.

good night, everyone.

This has been a NO BUMMER SUMMER!

This homemade strawberry shortcake will forever remind me of delicious meals the 2214 Ashby girls have made in the past 2 years!  i miss the agoff!!!

i am cold calling in fremont on mondays and tuesdays. look at all the times i wrote my ABCs!

Hiroshi and Momo and I made these today! (Momo, i think I made the hole too big on yours…. It is sitting by itself somewhere else!!)

The thing i appreciate about this summer is that God is shining light on the things in my heart that i thought should just stay in the dark. okay that makes me think of weird things like the fish on the bottom of the ocean that are so ugly and death looking. but its amazing to be in love with a God that brings true healing.

its like going from this:

to this:

I hope you are also having a no bummer summer!

about new and old things

Some old things:

We are still horrible at basketball.

Some new things:

New tradition: Manis and pedis after chapter camp. I call it consecration.

New skill: making pretzels from scratch! jalapeno cheddar and cinnamon almond crunch. I AM AUNTIE ANNE!!!!!

Finally, I’m glad i’m dating an old friend and new boyfriend named Jon Akutagawa because the thing that i have loved and always loved about being in his life is that i eat the most delicious things and he acts like its all cool cuz he says things like “oh yeah, i’ll just throw together a lil prosciutto, corn, tomato pizza with some lemon zest and cilantro…….” okay jon. and then he does and it is delicious.

picture day is so great!

A few months ago, I wrote about my staff picture at the orientation for new staff.

During said portrait session, I tried different poses like being really awkward, tilting my head, and closing my eyes.

Dear friends, I am very excited to tell you that out of all of the 1,500 staff that attended Intervarsity’s national staff conference in January, my new staff picture is the best.

There were so many options that I had for poses. One of my favorites was the mysterious authoritative glare:

But my boss, Andy Wong, mastered it so perfectly I didn’t want to out do him. Then I thought about going 100% beautiful, dazzling smile. Much like my friend Dana:

But I didn’t. Instead, I churned out THIS work of art:

At first glance it looks awful, I know. But then my eyes saw the inner beauty of this picture.

My baby hairs are not only glowing, they are unnaturally centered only in the top of my head:

I don’t know how to curl my hair:

my really attractive shoulder consumes half the picture.

and finally, i decided to go for the “Gaston Chin”

All in all, a really great day of pictures for everyone. Thank you.
