Its standardized. Stationary. Personal. And rewarding.
– She just keeps going.
I really feel like taking a standardized test.
Something like the SATs.
– Sara Fong. Only Sara Fong.

Will I still be dumb and giddy in another 3...
Probably not.
But tonight, after a very long awaited date night, i am very thankful that jon is in my life. sometimes it is so amazing to have a friend that speaks to you with such care, sincerity, and truth. he did this all over a spicy tofu soup that made me choke and cry so he took it and gave me his bibimbap.
speaking of which, did everyone else notice my horribly embarrassing coughing fit...

New skill: making pretzels from scratch! jalapeno cheddar and cinnamon almond crunch. I AM AUNTIE ANNE!!!!!
Finally, I’m glad i’m dating an old friend and new boyfriend named Jon Akutagawa because the thing that i have loved...

picture day is so great!
A few months ago, I wrote about my staff picture at the orientation for new staff.
During said portrait session, I tried different poses like being really awkward, tilting my head, and closing my eyes.
Dear friends, I am very excited to tell you that out of all of the 1,500 staff that attended Intervarsity’s national staff conference in January, my new staff picture is the best.

10 more months to go
this year promises to contain amazing insights, steps forward, and lessons learned
all in the form of embellishments and rubber stamps.

Regen kids are the best
Last Friday, I was babysitting some kids from church and this was my conversation with Farah (3).
Farah: Draw hearts. Lots of hearts.
Me: Okay. I really like drawing hearts. Can you draw one too?
Farah: Yes.
(15 minutes later)
Farah: I can’t draw hearts.
Me:That’s a beautiful heart!
Farah (looks at me): It’s a dog.

This probably is not what Alec meant...
but I’m sure the president of Intervarsity won’t mind that I definitely just spent 30 minutes watching Marshawn Lynch highlight videos on youtube “to get some good rest after national staff conference”.

Outdone.
Although last year’s Christmas present from Ally was impressive, get ready for THIS.
Normally, Ally and I enjoy shopping for each other- we wear the same size, like the same style, and are the only 2 in our sibling-hood who remember to get each other presents for special holidays. Daniel normally chips in half of the cost which means Ally and I know we can get something nice :)

This Christmas is:
realizing there are certain traditions you should sort of just let go of.
being glad that there is always room for new ones!
accepting the fact that i am always going to be one of those people that purchases 75% of Christmas gifts on December 24th.
celebrating advent in the ever more frequent moments of seeing that I am indeed waiting for something.
also, this Christmas is treating myself...
Want me to tell you about how i got totally hustled into getting this snowman...
– the one and only, Joyce Lin.
Part Two:
I am also noticing that my ability to multi-task (i.e. e-mail people while leaving voice messages) is declining rapidly.
The last message I just left was to a man named Adrian. It sounded like this: “Hi Greg, My name is Sarah- [click]”
and then i hung up.
Dear Diary,
2 weeks of cold calling telemarketing has revealed an ever increasing tendency of hostile aggression.
today, i called back the person who hung up on me. DONTMESS.

here you go, harry.
my brother and sister spent this afternoon requesting my intervarsity update letter over. and over. and over again. i think its because they really care about my ministry.
Welcome to Folsom
Sarah grew up in this church. Now she is very successful, pretty, and are you...
– an introduction from my home church pastor before I presented my ministry case. (you know, the one that hopefully was going to be professional).
I received a birthday card from one of my old clients (HAH! literally! she’s like 88! but also she is no longer my client. HAH!) and it made me smile.
Nouwen then
“One could call it the “prophetic” vision: looking at people and this world through the eyes of God. Is this a realistic possibility for a human being? More important: Is it a true option for me? This is not an intellectual question. It is a question of vocation. I am called to enter into the inner sanctuary of my own being where God has chosen to dwell. The only way to that...

Ive met with almost a dozen pastors and youth workers in the past few months to share about intervarsity and i just have so much to learn! so much to experience! so much to understand!
but this great cloud of witnesses that are praying for me, advising me, and celebrating with me, is really really really a blessing.
i really like being in full time ministry.
on another note, check out...

This is what I’m doing before the wedding.
Looking at pictures of those cute little girls.

Am I really the same age as the beautiful bride who is saying “i do” today?

while babysitting Caitlyn (8) and Caleb (5) Fong…
Caitlyn: I like the author of Harry Potter Ally: She is the richest woman in all of Europe. Me & Daniel: That’s impossible. What about the queen. The queen owns the country. Caleb: A country must cost all the money in the world Me: Funny you should say that, Caleb. Do you know how much the Native Americans were forced to sell this...

BORED BUT completely productive
Long story short, I didn’t know that there are some things that are cool to hate. Until I sat down for 50 minutes and came up with this list.
Things that are cool to hate: 1. the girl in Twilight 2. that xB car (also, the element) 3. the people that give free stress tests on the street 4. at&t’s cell phone service 5. brides 6. bridesmaid dresses 7. the new iphone that doesn’t work for...
I WILL FIGHT NO MORE FOREVER.
This, along with many other Native American battle one-liners, along with a few Bruce Springsteen song titles, is just a small part of the war culture my dad and uncles have imparted to my generation.
This is my Dad, Uncle Newton, and Uncle David (l-r)
And these are their friends (side note: top right is Sara Fong’s dad)
All this to say that its ingrained in me that every thing can...

– an E-mail from a pastor in Berkeley. It means more than you know.
Of all the things i'm learning,
this is the least important to my overall spiritual development as a person.
I am learning to just LOOK AT MY HORRIBLE PICTURES AND REALIZE ITS OKAY BECAUSE SOMETIMES I JUST LOOK LIKE THAT.
This looks like a school picture but its worse because a professional photographer at Intervarsity’s Orientation for New Staff took it and Becky’s looks SO cute and its on her IV website and...
Shoot me.
I couldn’t remember what Taylor’s blog was, but I remembered the tagline.
